Jane Seymour was the third wife of King Henry VIII of England. She is often cast in the role of rival to Anne Boleyn, Henry's previous wife. Henry and Jane were betrothed the day after Anne's execution and were married 10 days later. Jane was the only one of Henry's wives to produce a male heir who lived passed infancy. Their son was named Edward but sadly, Jane would would not see her son grow up as she would pass away 12 days after his birth due postnatal complications. She was given a queen's funeral and upon his own death, Henry requested to be buried next to her leading many scholars to speculate that he viewed her as his true queen, most likely owing to the fact she delievered him the mail heir he so desperately craved.

This 2 necklace set is a replica of the jewels worn by Jane in a portrait by Hans Holbein the Younger circa 1537. The portrait resides at Kunsthistorisches Museum, Wien (Vienna). The pendant was made with 2 brass filigrees both of which have been treated with Renaissance wax to reduce/prevent oxidation. It features an 18x13mm faceted red glass jewel and an 18x25mm faceted black glass jewel, each set in a brass setting. The pendant is strung on a strand of glass pearls alternating with small gold toned spacer beads. The second, longer necklace is made using the same glass pearls and gold toned beads in a alternating pattern.
