Mary Tudor Historical Portrait Replica Reproduction Medieval Pearl Gold Pearl Filigree 2 Necklace Set Tudor Reenactment Queen of France:
***This item is truly HANDMADE and will be made just for you. It will take 1 to 2 weeks to ship***
Mary Tudor was the sister of King Hnery VIII of England. At the age of 18 she was married to King Louis XII of France who was several decades her senior. The marriage was quite short lived as Louis died a mere 3 months later. Charles Brandon (1st Duke of Suffolk) was sent to France to retrieve Mary and return her to England. Though Charles promised Henry he would not propose marriage to new widow, Charles broke his promise and the couple were married within 3 months of Louis' death. This necklace set is a replica of the necklaces Mary wore in her double portriat with Charles Brandon painted to celebrate their marriage. This portriat is believed to have been painted by Jan Gossaert in 1516.
These necklaces were created using gold toned brass filigrees which alternate with clusters of 7 hand wired, high quality glass pearls for a total of over 200 pearls. Each of the round filigrees (29 in all) is beset with a faceted square glass Black jewel which itself has been set in a gold toned brass setting. The center piece is a large brass filigree to which a large black acrylic jewel had been attached and from which a white teardrop shaped glass pearl elegantly dangles. This set is made up of two necklaces so you can recreate Mary Tudor's entire look from this portrait or should you prefer, the shorter necklace is available for purchase seperately.
All filigrees used the make these necklaces are brass and have been cleaned, polished and treated with Renaissance Wax by me.
The shorter necklace measures about 19 inches and has a lobster claw clasp.
The longer necklace measures about 34 inches and is a continuous necklace meant to slip on over the head.
